How would President Kerry be treated?

Given the vitriol leveled at GW by the press and individuals, I wonder how Kerry's actions would be treated if he were president.

The bias of the NYT is pretty obvious to anyone who reads it regularly. If Kerry were President I wonder how much I could trust them to report accurately. Actually it is not the reporting per se, it is the spin.

And what about those individuals who really hate GW, I wonder how broadly cognative dissonence might set in. This is one of the difficulties that accrue with such a polarization as we have.

I think it would depend on if he had a stupid affair or started a stupid war. If he had the affair, there would be a concerted attempt to impeach him. If he started a stupid war, he would get the backing of all American patriots.

I think the right wing will hound him, the way they did with Clinton & Whitewater.

Bush has not gotten the same sort of treatment. Look how they glossed over and forgot the insider trading allegations. If a Democrat were accused of that, we'd have spent another half a billion of so to investigate.

Dubya is a one-off. I've seen no US president make such huge gaffes in just about everything he does, and that incudes Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and the late Ronnie Raygun.

I'm also aware that a lot of his crap "decisions" have been made for him by certain staffers and administration types, and that there's been a LOT of backroom scuffling going on in the last 6-12 months to sideline these people. So the vitriol is not aimed solely at Dubya, but also at the clique of clowns who supposedly advised him.

President Kerry will get his quota of cheers and boos, I expect. Some people will NEVER like a Democrat, no matter how nice and reasonable he is and how good a job he does. Neh.

Sidenote: Have you noticed that whenever he speaks publicly, Bush always seems to have long pauses between phrases where he sometimes seems to be staring off into space? Mrs Zep believes he's got a radio earpiece and they are feeding him his lines because he's too dumb to learn them (unlike Ronnie). That might also explain some of his speaking gaffes - bad reception or interference in his earpiece!

Candidate Kerry is underthe gun, why not prez Kerry?? For every NY TImes theres a Fox news.

Does anyone really pay attention to teh newspapers anyway? I feel the TV news networks, and talk radio are far bigger influences.

- Kerry will make mistakes like everyone else, I'm sure. He's already made a couple of cute ones... "I voted for it before I voted against it" and so on, but that's just a head-slapper. Nobody died because of it. It didn't cost $83 billion dollars.

- It remains to be seen how people will react, but it's a pretty sure bet that all the ooh-ing and ahh-ing that FOX and the rightwing press is doing right now over the economy, the war on terrah, and so on... that'll stop immediately, and the buck will stop squarely in the oval office. (AFTER November, IF Kerry wins.)

- FOX Cavuto is on every day while I work out (I can't change the channel, heh), and I'm exposed to more of it than I'd like. Once in a while I put the bells down and just laugh... they did a segment a few weeks ago on how much high gas prices are helping the average consumer. No lie. It's just common sense that Coulter and O'Riley and their ilk will switch from defense to offense.

- Me? I'm not blindly faithful to the Democratic party, nor am I a worshipper of Kerry... I just can't stand Bush, and any candidate put forward by the Dems would likely be preferable. That doesn't mean he won't screw up somehow.

That's not true. Clinton started a stupid war and he didn't get the backing of all the American patriots.

Are you kidding? The Republicans are in power, and we've got at least as much vitriol directed towards "liberals" as towards the President. See Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Coulter, et al.
If Kerry wins, god help him. He'll be viciously attacked for the slightest gaffe or mistake.
You can't compare Fox News and the NYT. One is a fairly respectable news outlet with a slanted editorial page. The other devotes significant portions of its time to letting angry conservatives broadcast their views, and are frequently biased even in their straight news coverage.

Here's a clue as to which is which:
