Sure you qualify for welfare, so you don't have to worry about them starving. But you want better for them if you can. And no way waitressing is going to cover the daycare bill.

So? All is not lost.

Octuplets’ mother wants Oprah to turn her into a $2m TV star
Times On Line (UK)

THE single mother of octuplets born in California last week is seeking $2m (£1.37m) from media interviews and commercial sponsorship to help pay the cost of raising the children.

Nadya Suleman, 33, plans a career as a television childcare expert after it emerged last week that she already had six children before giving birth on Monday. She now has 14 below the age of eight.

Although still confined to an LA hospital bed, she intends to talk to two influential television hosts this week — media mogul Oprah Winfrey, and Diane Sawyer, who presents Good Morning America.

Her family has told agents she needs cash from deals such as nappy sponsorship — she will get through 250 a week in the next few months — and the agents will gauge public reaction to her story.

...

OK so you can't sing or dance, but there's always a certain amount of freak show value ... If you've got it, flaunt it.

Children are a gift from a bunch of doctors playing
God.

Besides, Oprah is a spiritual leader.
Which is why this is filed under 'Religion'.

Now that's just silly!

She just won't have any credibility until she does it at least twice more! :duck:

Great. Having children as an industry is really getting popular here in the US.

Her fallopian tubes are already blocked, and all her kids (including the latest eight!!) are all the result of IVF. What kind of crackpot doctor implants eight embryos?

I don't know if this Nadya woman is claiming her kids are gifts from god, but I've certainly seen other parents of high-order multiples making that claim, when it seems to me that their "god" didn't see fit to give them any children, and they had to turn to doctors and scientists.

I think for fertility treatments they tend to implant multiple embryos in the hope that at least one will take, as for any individual embryo the chances are quite small.

The first thing I thought when I heard about this story was: This woman wants to be the next "John and Kate plus 8"

My question is, with six children already, why was it necessary to go for seven? Especially when doing so required extraordinary measures?

It was a little-known movie, and I only saw it about a year ago, but it seems like we are moving more towards the Idiocracy scenario every day.
