We have a 8 year old Aussie Shepherd mix, who, a couple times a year, is subject to "seizures", which last maybe 10 to 15 minutes, then everything is normal for the next six months. This includes temporary paralysis, limb stiffness, shaking, glassy eyes, etc.
When this has happened in the past, to our knowledge both we & our other dog, a little terrier-doxie mix, are in the immediate vicinity. A second or two before these incidents happen, the little dog always starts barking (almost mildly attackng) at the big dog (who she otherwise ignores) like she's already annoyed at what is to come (or maybe it's just a "warning" to my husband & myself).
I was very surprised last nite, however, when the Aussie went into this seizure state. This time the little dog was a whole two rooms & two closed doors away, but apparently exactly at the time the seizure started, or again a minute before, the little dog, who had been quiet as a churchmouse for at least half an hour, went into that same barking routine...like she understood, though couldn't see, what was happening.
I know my husband & I weren't giving off any noise or other signals as neither of us even noticed the seizure starting until at least a couple of minutes into it.
Could there be some sort of animal telepathy going on here?
