How do you open up windows in maximised state?

It only opens in the default size in links both in web pages, and also links to web pages in outlook express. Also how do I open links contained in email messages in outlook express so it opens in a new (and hopefully maximised) window? Thanks.
 
You can right-click a link, then pick 'Open in New Window' from the menu that appears.

Double-clicking the title bar of a window maximizes the window.
 
I know you can change many kinds of shortcut icons to open maximized, by default. (Right click, properties Run... drop down)

I think any sort of change you made to open a generic link as 'maximized' would cause your browser to always open maximized, which is probably not what you want.

But I do! Rather that than the default size. But can't work out how to do it. Tried right click menus. The setting doesn't exist.

You have a pc? This only applies if you do. Try holding down the shift key when you click the link. That opens in a new window in IE. Maybe it will in Outlook. Can't help with the maximize though.
 
1. Click on a link so that a window opens in the default small size.

2. Close all other browser windows.

3. Use your mouse to drag the borders of the window to full size. Do not use the "Maximize" button in the upper right hand corner to do this.

4. From the "File" menu, close the window by clicking on "Close". Do not use the "X" in the upper right hand corner to do this.


This method will also work for your Outlook Express windows. In fact, it will work on most application windows.

The frm2new method also looks promising, as it would tell IE how to open new windows, and is well known because of the frequency that its hijacked for popups.

You can search just this forum, and other forums with a 'search' link. You can also tell google to search only a particular web site.

I had PM'd Ian with this method shortly after he made his original post. I didn't have time to test it then but I was pretty sure I had it right. It has worked for me on several machines other than my own. If Ian tried it, I wonder why it doesn't work for him?
 
Perhaps he left other instances of IE open, or didn't exit with the control-click on the 'x', or file->exit.

Or he skimmed the linked site in a hurry, and just didn't spot the two different workable solutions.

It does work, but the window isn't in its maximised state. I've actually done it, but when I need a small window I now have to drag it to the smaller size rather than just click the middle button in the top right hand corner..
 
Then try the frm2new technique. That should open it in maximized state when you click on a link.
