Hot reading

I just watched a video on Youtube about a man who pretends he knows something about random people through hot reading from posts through social media such as Twitter. Though he referred to it as an experiment, I don't think it would be much of a stretch to see this method employed by mentalists and psychics. People don't think much when they post information on the internet sometimes, and I think it would be pretty easy for a con artist to use this information to scam someone.

The video is here:

Mostly I just thought I would share. Any comments are certainly welcome.

A shame Robin never saw this, I'm sure she'd still claim Edwards was the real deal.

A great video which exposes how fraudsters have been doing it for years, just different forms of media.

I try to keep my real name off the internet. True Facebook has it with a photo, that is getting a bit old. But that is about the only place that has my real name. This place and heaps of other places have something else. I prefer it that way.

What I put on Facebook is public information only.

^^it`s Edward. Edwards is the politician. Anyway, in the days of John Edward on tv, we hashed this subject here quite a bit. I loved watching that show. One of the things that intrigued me about people like him, or Sylvia Browne, or Brain Hurts(lol...really Brian Hurst) is that the never grinned when doing their readings. Like maybe they themselves actually believe they have this gift. If it was me and i knew i was a fraud, i`d bust out laughing from the get-go, as soon as i said ``who is the C? Who has a C in their name?`` :D

Same here, I don't use a real name on social networks. I use my first name but a fake surname. Hot reading nowadays (even 5 years ago when I was a "psychic") is the easiest thing to do! Forget cold reading, this reading is hotter than the core of the sun. People (in general) don't realise this and get a surprise when it's found out how much random strangers know about them.
