I've been wondering about these for some time now:

What is the most poisonous substance available for dilution?

In homeopathic terms, how much would you need to dilute it for it to be safe for eating / drinking, C6, C12?

What is the most poisonous substance used in homeopathy?

In homeopathic terms, what is the most diluted substance in real medical use, and how much is it diluted?

We discussed this in another thread several years ago, to see if there was anything we wouldn't be prepared to take in a standard dose at 6X.

Of course deciding what the mother tincture would be was difficult - in fact most mother tinctures are quite dilute to start with, for example the 250 microgramme LSD tab. I think we had minor reservations about botulinum toxin and pufferfish toxin but really most things we looked at were inactivated to hell and gone by the time we reached 6X and were talking about no more than 5ml.

It was interesting to note that the most toxic substances were all "natural", no synthetic compound got close.

I'm off to the USA very early tomorrow morning so I've no time to chat, but maybe MRC_Hans can point you to the thread.

Well for someone weighing 65 kg the lethal dose of Botulinum toxin is about 6.5 × 10-8grams.

The atomic mass of Botulinum toxin is about 149,000

So if we start with a mother tincture with a concentration of 1 molar (good luck disolving abour 150KG of protein in 1 liter of water mind) and a final dose is 5ml.

Then if we want a safetly margin of an order of magnitude

(149,000/200)/X=6.5 * 10-9
X=(149,000/200)/6.5*10-9
So we need a dilution factor of about 1.1*1011
Which is about 11X or 6C.

If we accept a more reasonable 150 grams per liter in the mother tincture that drops to 8X and about 4C. LM stuff is anouther matter but probably works out about LM2 for 150 grams and LM3 for the 1 molar solution.

Of course with the various transfers to sugar pills and the less than analytical level techniques in makein up the solutions exact values are hard to quantify.

Isn't ricin more poisonous than BT? I seem to remember reading that one molecule of ricin is sufficient to kill one (hepatic) cell. I presume the C6 solution would have to be injected rather than ingested to cause death though.

Ricin is about 2*10-4 grams.
 
Must be a much larger molecule than BT. Isn't it two entire peptide chains linked with a disulphide bridge?
