There was a local telethon for the humane society recently, which had a brief segment of talking with a homeopathic vet. I expressed dissappointment that people that care about animals would have one on their show. My wife asked me, "What are they?"

I said, "People take their sick animals to them, they take their money and then don't do anything to help the animal, and it could die from it. So basically, they kill cute doggies and kitties for profit."

My wife gave me a puzzled look, so I added, "Of course, my description of their profession is likely somewhat biased, and not as they would describe themselves."

Then I gave her the general rundown on the basic principals of homeopathy, and just explained that they would be considered "alternative medicine", like chiropractors.

Starting off with an "appeal to emotion" arguement was kind of fun for once, though I wasn't able to keep it up in the end.

Nice one! Being boring and scientific is never a good way to start talking about wooish stuff.
