I'm confused...did someone find Hitler's diaries, or not? I've heard some people refer to them, others claim that they are fake.

Either way, there's one thing I'm sure of...that Hitler would not have joined this year's JREF Forum Secret Santa extravaganza! And you wouldn't want to be like Hitler, would you?

Only two days left to join!

Damn you, Wolfman! Bait & Switch ought to be your middle name...

From the top of my head: claimed to be found, published to much expense and publicity in a major newspaper, found to be fake... now I will click on the link in the reply I shoulda read first to see if I am right...

Eta: Egg on face avoided! Feel free to mock me anyway.

This is the third time I've been duped. It's just like in West Philadelphia I was born and raised, on the playground; I used to spend most of my days,...

Selling Hitler by Robert Harris covered the diary hoax in detail. The book was also made into a very funny movie for British TV staring Jonathan Pryce and Alexei Sayle.

Oh, I need to watch that!

The German film on the diary hoax is called "Schtonk!" - I am not sure if that's ever been dubbed or subtitled elsewhere, though.

In Australia, SBS, the multicultural TV channel, subtitles in English all the foreign movies it shows. This movie (Schtonk!) was on a number of years ago - I videotaped it and have watched it a couple of times - very amusing movie. The 'Selling Hitler' movie was also entertaining - it had operatic elements in it.

****.

ETA - I did my duty and hovered over the thread to see the first line and assumed this was an honest post. I will err the other direction for the remainder of the year. I understand it is my personal problem, but wtf? I don't RickRoll because I consider it rude. How many RickRolls is too many? How many of these threads is too many?
