Hepatitis A vaccine

Yes, I know. I've been vaccinated against Hep A, as well as quite a few other things (just don't tell bigfig). I originally got the vaccinations before travelling (Nepal among other places), but the Hep A and Typhoid vaccinations can help, even in North America.

There was an incident here (well, Edmonton, actually, but it's close enough for most people) where a worker from the produce section of a major supermarket was found to be infected with Hep A. I don't know if anyone else got sick or not, but it's kinda scary anyway.

You just never know who's going to go to the bathroom, then return to work without washing their hands - the cook at that restaurant, the produce guy at the supermarket, or the guy you're shaking hands with....

Hear, hear!

Also, there is a vaccine for Hepatitis B, a far more sinister player, that everyone should ask about (if you haven't had it already) next time you're at the doc's office.

Yes, although you're less likely to get Hep B from browsing the salad bar. You can actually get a shot for both Hep A and Hep B rolled into one, it's called Twinrix.
