Hemophiliac Dog in Pain

I have a vizsla, named Sidney, who is a hemophiliac and an epileptic (it's pretty rough on him). Somehow he injured his neck, possibly from playing with our other dog, Hazel. He's not in so much pain that he's immobile or constantly whining, but if I touch the spot, he becomes nervous and occasionally whinces. Do any of you know of some type of pain reliever I can give to him that won't have adverse affects concerning his hemophilia? I am also unsure as to whether giving him tylenol or other OTC pain relievers will cause conflict with his epilepsy.

My best advice - go to your vet. Don't take chances using OTC pain relievers - many of these have blood thinning properties, and that last thing your dog needs is thinner blood and less clotting ability, additionally, you've no idea how it will affect the brain. What a combination of health problems for your poor dog. I've had an epileptic dog myself, but not one with bleeding problems.

Deb - Thanks much for the reply. I didn't think there would be any 'safe' medicines to give him, but it is worth a shot i guess.

I'll take Sid to the vet tomorrow when they don't require a $100 deposit for an 'emergency' visit.

Debaroo is right. In a case like that, it really should be the vet who is familiar with the case who decides what is best. Most of the best canine analgesics are prescription-only anyway. Not only are some of the OTC things contraindicated if there is a coagulation defect, some of them are not good for dogs at all. Never give a dog ibuprofen except under strict veterinary advice.

If it's not a severe problem he'll probably be OK untill Monday, but you might want to ask your vet for something to keep to hand in case of further incidents like this.
