She tells me that Jesus is the way and she wants to send me a DVD and a care package she is convinced will show me the way

woe, is me............:D :D


Good to know that Xians have access to the Devil tools of TV and Home Video



Anyone know of some fun sites to send her that will retort the Rapture and other Xian propaganda she sends me
 
Here's a recent scary Guardian article about some of the nutters who believe in the Rapture, many of whom are in worryingly powerful positions.

According to this article the Rapture is a fairly recent invention:

In the United States, several million people have succumbed to an extraordinary delusion. In the 19th century, two immigrant preachers cobbled together a series of unrelated passages from the Bible to create what appears to be a consistent narrative: Jesus will return to Earth when certain preconditions have been met.

You could try pointing her to the two verses in the NT where Jesus promises his disciples that he will return in their lifetimes (Matt 16:28 and Matt 24:34) and ask her why we're still waiting 2000 years later.
 
You're probably going to receive "The Jesus Film". Seen by '5,760,925,245' people (with a note about 'Includes Multiple Viewings' - well "DUH!")

Every christian on Earth must've seen it twice and then made every person in China watch it once. Funny thing, nobody ever seems to have heard of it before.

Maybe there are some religious people who sit there and watch it over and over and over and over.... I have met people like that.

Maybe they're counting the ants that walk on the discs at the landfill. Hard to say.

After following your link, I'm rather curious to see the film myself.

So my advice to Losman is go ahead and watch it.

Even if it's embassingly bad it won't be as rough going as the torture in Gibson's film.

Far better that she sends it to you, who knows how to safely dispose of it rather than it falling into the wrong hands.

Trying to save you?
I always thought that only those who endure to the end will be saved. I didn't know you could be saved simply by someone talking and convincing you and then taking the credit for saving you.

Matthew 24:13
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
 
Thanks everyone, I usually can hold my own against the Catholics and Watchtower folk but this Fundy Xians are a whole other breed....

So far she is giving me the usual gospel about Jesus and God but what worries me is that they teach things about the Rapture and she doesn't question.

I will look at her stuff but I gurantee if I sent her The Demon Haunted World she would turn it away because her church told her it was not of Christ

She is my friend from College and I care for her but she has really taken this whole Xian thing to new levels...

What you seem to be describing is the zeal that newly converted Christians are known for. She really means no harm--so try to be gentle with her.


Galatians 4:18
It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always and not just when I am with you.
 
I had a fellow on the Bus who wanted to convert me. He was a lot of fun to chat with, so I took the book he gave me. It was a Josh McDowell farce, but I read it, thinking if I didn't learn something from it myself, I could at least go back to him and explain something new about critical thinking.

Sadly, my work hours changed and I haven't seen him since. I still have the book.

Anyhow, I think you shoul give it a shot. Either you'll learn something, or you'll have something funny to talk about.
 
You just need to accept Mel Gibson as your Personal Lord and Savior. . . .
