I think I originally saw these on Randi, but I'm not sure.

It was a picture of a monk 'levitating' using only a cane from his outstretched arm. I think it also showed pictures of how the trick worked.

Anyone got a link?

nobody can find it?

anyone else remember it?

buddhist monk looking guy, orange robes...cane in the ground?

I remember seeing it too, only it wasn't on the Web, it was on a television program.

Photoshop artists are gods.

Some of those were pretty weak though. The guy with the wand is just standing on something, and the grainy one with the kid with the crossed legs didn't have to be cleaned up much.

It's because the 'cane' is actually a pole that is attached to a seat. A one-legged chair :-)

I propose we have our own photoshop contest...
Good idea, except I get a feeling that many of us suck at photoshop.

How about a generic trick photo contest.

Post your best original ufo, ghost, whatever picture and we can start a new thread to vote for the winner.

The real fun will come a couple months from now when we find the pictures posted on believer sites as proof of the paranormal

The pros are way ahead of you:

Are you after the secret of the effect or a photo of the monk?

I doubt Randi will have given away the former. As for the latter, is this what you're after?

(Taken from a recent television programme.)

In the program the picture is taken from they did give away the secret. It was hosted by Randi's counterpart in India who specializes in exposing god-men. He's been mentioned in Randi's commentaries a couple of times, but his name escapes me.

Basava Premanand.
If that prog is repeated, is there any chance of recording a copy for a curious Brit? P&P will be reimbursed, NTSC not a prob.
