You can help Iraqi and Afghan veterinarians
War, looting, and neglect have left Iraq and Afghanistan's veterinary schools in desperate need of equipment and supplies. To help these schools get back on their feet, the U.S. Army and several U.S. veterinary schools are asking for donations of veterinary equipment and supplies.

The Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine is coordinating the Afghanistan Veterinary School Project, which is providing supplies and equipment to the Kabul School of Veterinary Medicine. Small, low-tech items can be sent to Dr. Robert K. Ridley, Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Coles Hall, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506. Packages should be labeled "Afghanistan Veterinary School Project." Before sending, contact Dr. Ridley at ridley@vet.ksu.edu, or leave a message at (785) 532-4615. The U.S. Army is collecting books, instruments, and supplies for the University of Baghdad College of Veterinary Medicine. To contribute, contact Col. John Huntley, 414th CA BN (FWD), APO 09335, or john.huntley@1ADTACM.1ad.ARMY.MIL. APO shipments are equivalent in cost to U.S. shipments.

No- if you care about animals in this country, you're supposed to join PETA so they can pay the legal defense of terrorists who vandalize dairy farmers and fire-bomb cancer research laboratories. Directly helping animals through shelters and veterinary service is not their priority.
