Has Candada Changed since the 1980's? I have noticed chatting with Canadians lately that they are not like the people I once knew. It is a small sample set so it just might be the luck of the draw. So, any Canadians can attest to, in fact, yes, Canada is a very different country with different attitudes now?

DJ AliKat on NSBRADIO says it has not changed.

If we aren't talking about things like foreign policy, domestic policy, etc. then yes, I am pretty sure Canada is different form it was more than 20 years ago, the same way you and I are very different from what we were 20 years ago.

According to the documentary "Trailer Park Boys", no.

Maybe it would help if you told us how your small subset of people has changed.

I'd say that it's a bit more multi-cultural now, which is a good thing. The Canadians I know are still polite, hard-working hockey-lovers. *shrug*

I lived in Newfoundland for two years in the 80s. If they've changed, does that mean the island's gone teetotal?

Sure they've changed. They even have a website now.

And I think the proper name of the country is the People's Republic of Canuckistan.

We've certainly changed out hairstyles. The 80s were the era of big hair and trowelled-on make-up.
