I've spent the afternoon drawing giraffes. It's for this: http://www.onemilliongiraffes.com/

My friend, Jørgen, doesn't believe I can collect one million giraffes by 2011. I'm gonna prove him wrong, but I need your help. You can create your giraffes in any way you like, but not on a computer and no store bought objects. You must create your giraffes yourself! Click here to read why.
I've gotten 851 473 giraffes so far, so I only need 148 527 more and I have 198 days left to get. Please help me!
Let's show Jørgen how amazing the internet is.

Check out the mosaics - they're awesome.

So far, I've drawn 7 giraffes, but I want to do more, since he's collecting giraffes, not pictures of giraffes.

There's really only one rule:

Your giraffe(s) can be created in any way and form, but not on a computer

but you can use the computer to scan pictures, or download photos from your camera of the giraffe you've made (no store-bought giraffes).

You don't have to be an artist to join in. Everybody get creative!

It's like a chain letter, if you don't draw a giraffe, then you will have 15 years of sore throats.

I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy at Microsoft who says this is totally true.

Why be creative? It makes you feel good.

Why giraffes? Giraffes are very tall. :)

Why this guy's project? I've enjoyed looking at the submissions, and would like to contribute something back.

Be careful with these people, Orph!

There has always seemed to me something not quite right about those with giraffe fixations.

Just saying...

My favourite Edinburgh statue is a pair of giraffes near the top of Leith Walk.
I'll post a pic when I'm home.

That's what all the 'raffe heads say...

No, really, I CAN stop at any time! ;)

Here are my 0.00001 million giraffes:

I might do another pic now. ;) :D

:D

So they can reach the ground with their mouths when standing on their long legs? :)

obviously....honestly, can't these people work out those sort of basic facts themselves.....I'd a thought...it shows the the poor state of the education system today, in my day blah, blah......(cont p94.....)

:D

Just like humans, Giraffes have seven neck vertebrae. For giraffes, however, each one can be over ten inches (25.4 centimeters) long. There are some good Giraffe pictures here, Orphia.

Nice site! Thanks! :)

I found lots of good models for my drawing at http://www.deviantart.com/

But it's cool to read some giraffe facts.

There's my son in a giraffe costume, and Orphia Nay, just for you (even though I didn't know you yet), my son as a penguin.

And an example of a hand turkey. It's a common thing for American kids to know how to do, because of having a turkey as a central icon for a major holiday.
