Bush's National Guard File Missing Records

2 hours, 46 minutes ago

By MATT KELLEY, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Documents that should have been written to explain gaps in President Bush (news - web sites)'s Texas Air National Guard service are missing from the military records released about his service in 1972 and 1973, according to regulations and outside experts.

I'm betting the Bush campaign was hoping this issue would stay gone.

This will no doubt fuel the fire of Limbaughs who believe in a monolothic liberal media.

The interesting thing is trying to figure out how this is news, again, for the sixth time.

Matt Kelley is the person who wrote this interestingly timed story. A quick glance at the list of articles he is written shows that he often writes negative articles about the Bush admin.

Recently, he wrote a misleading article about a navy document somehow validating the enemy fire claims.

Because of undercover activist "reporters" like Mr. Kelley, people like Limbaugh will continue to have ammo for their liberal media boogeyman.

Because it's never been confirmed or denied unequivocally. There are few records to refer to.

The Dems SHOULD be bringing it up, because of the SBVT and other attack ads. In fact, if they were smart, they would stop trying to talk about Kerry's platform and start trying to sap Bush's platform.

It seems like the tide may be turning, and that Bush may have to go on the defensive now. On the next '60 minutes' program, they're going to interview a guy who says that he took a bribe to get Bush into the National Guard. It will be interesting to see if the media will cover this issue as they did Kerry's medal issue.

Also, a book just came out that attacks President Bush and claims that he did cocaine at Camp David while his father was President. It seems to be another sleaze filled attack book that probably is 90% false, just like the 'Unfit for Command' book that came out about Kerry. It's a shame that the debate has atrophied to this level.

The bigger pity is that the press might be loosing interest on this ancient military history thing after the damage is already done to Kerry.

For the media to cover it the way they did SBVT, they have to stop as soon as they find one tangential inconsistency and say "oh look, its all hokum".

Then for a week then will have to play clips of Bush claiming the 60 Minutes piece was organized by Kerry and claiming Kerry is smearing him.

Alright, we have the Matt Kelley (Associated Press) piece coming out of the blue. We have the 60 Minutes piece which is actually based on something new.

Might be interesting to see what other old school media sources jump on the bandwagon to rehash this stuff right before the election. Try to reverse engineer who is on Terry McCaulife's fax machine's speed dialer.

Let me guess, is the 60 Minutes piece done by Steven Kroft?
