Growing Earth - Conspiracy of Science

This one must be fairly fresh (steam still rising from the plate). Or my skills at searching Snopes, Urban Legends, Truth or Fiction, and this forum need improvement.

It was sent to me by a fellow teacher who, of course, expected me to have an answer ready to go.

My predicament reminds me of that skit on the first series of Little Britain. "Alas, I'm the only skeptic in town. How lonely it is to be the o n l y skeptic in the town."
 
phyz, try the Bad Astronomy-Universe Today (BAUT) Forum, conspiracy theories. IIRC, they had a thread or two on the expanding earth there last year with some good info...
