That's cool. There've been a few gay characters in comics in the last decade apparently, such as Northstar from Alpha Flight. I hear there's even a gay couple in Archie Comics. (unfortunately, it's not Betty and Veronica) (eta: ps, definitely NSFW but interesting and feel free to remove it mods if it's not allowed, and don't ask how I know/found this: http://streetcouch.com/betty-veronica-shower/ Ugh. Craig4: double heh, yeah even as young TV strapling Burt Ward, Robin seemed gay. A recent "canon" Robin is gay or bisexual, IIRC. And yeah, there are plenty of innuendos in Golden Age comics of a slightly too close relationship betwen Batman and Robin.

Another interesting Golden Age theme is Wonder Woman's BDSM. Her powers were absolute, until she was tied up with her own lasso by a man. And she also tied up other women for the hell of it. The old time creators seemed to be keenly aware of the entendre.

none of the Robins have been gay. Dick, Jason, and Tim have all had girfriends. Stephanie has had boyfriends. Damian is a little too young for that kind of thing just yet.
 
this is kind of a non-story. There have been gay characters in comics for quite a long time now.
