Gov. Gray Davis Declares Jihad on California

Well, no not really. He might as well have. This liberal boob has all but sealed the fate of this great state. Between his corruption and incompetence, he has nearly bankrupted the state.

Heres just one article. There are oodles more if you search.

What do you think?

Gray Davis made the same mistake _most_ governers made. They thought the tech boom and its ripple effect on the economy would last forever. That bubble filled the government coffers with tax revenues and I've never met a politician who believes in that whole "ant and grasshopper" fable.

However, I do agree he is a weasel for other reasons. But as far as bankrupting his state, he is just as guilty as some others.

In Tennessee we are actually trying something called _cutting expenses_ to fix the problem. Here in my county we are closing some of the less frequented government libraries to save money.
There are many nonessential programs you can cut to ride out a bear market and its effect on tax revenue.

Imagine that. A liberal goof with massive socialist programs, leading the countrys most populated state into ruin by his socialist policys.

Socialism doesn't work. Fall of Russia anyone?

Even more amazing, the brain dead pepople of Clifornia keep electing the incompetent, because he promises their next months welfare check will be bigger if he is elected.

Looks like the forum is still acting up. But I'll try and post to this topic again anyway.

I was wondering if California's deficit is greater than all other 49 other states combined, like I had heard somewhere, and I found this.

SAN FRANCISCO - It is larger than the budget of every other state - except New York. It is greater than the annual economic output of Bulgaria or Afghanistan. Indeed, it is so massive that one of the world's leading credit agencies sees no possible budget solution this year.

It is California's deficit, and on Friday Gov. Gray Davis revealed the consequences of being $35 billion in the red. In his proposed budget, schools, the poor, and the ill will face service cuts of $21 billion. The rest of the state will swallow $8.3 billion in income and sales taxes, and various fees.

California's deficit, by some estimates larger than the deficits of all the other states combined, is partly due to the Golden State's own peculiarities - from its reliance on high tech to a raft of binding ballot initiatives. Yet it is also simply a more extreme example of what has happened in nearly every state.

Aside from the collapse of the economy contributing to the problem, I think a lot of states are going to get burned by their reliance on lotteries one day soon, too.

Gambling is cyclical in the U.S. The current high tide will ebb eventually. Just watch.
