Google Celebrates Space Ship 1

Not any more in Europe. And cookies or something prevent me from opening Google.com (it autoforwards).

I'm reminded of what John Stewart said after the first launch several months back. "It needs more port holes d@mmit!"

gmail must be passe now, I can't seem to give my invites away either.... ;)

yeah, i know. when i first got my account, people were almost willing to pay me for invites. now i have to post them on every forum on earth. it doesn't help that i've gotten over 128 total invites to give away. my theory is that gmail will never go out of beta and this was a marketing ploy :). btw, i've had one person accept an invite based on this thread, so i now have 4 to give away.

I heard about the win on the midnight news, just as I was going to sleep. This morning at coffee break I went to the BBC web site to read about it. It was nowhere to be found on any of the main news pages, and I had to click on "science and medicine" before I got the story.

Come to think about it, I listened to the radio news in the morning, and it didn't get a name-check.

Mine neither. Strangely, the 'signal from aliens' did get broadcast when that was hyped (along with a claim that they had verified the data ... oops).
