Actually a simulation of a conscious mind morally should be treated as if it was a conscious mind. Especially if it was actually sentient, conscious, possessed self-awareness etc.

While I probably wouldn't agree with everything Isaac Asimov said, I happen to agree with this statement more or less

Tipler, by the way, isn't just trying to use science to prove the existence of God, but specifically the Christian God. The book of his I reviewed for Skeptic was, "The Physics of Christianity." In fact, he not only tries to "prove" the virgin birth - using biologically based parthenogenesis and seeing Jesus as a rare double X chromosome male...

Oh, he's that guy? I must have read your review - I remember the extremely muddled science, but not Tipler's name.
