God calls in bomb scare

Perhaps she was wrong, and blamed God.

Who knows?

Not like that's ever been done before.

No, God was testing her. Depending on your point of view, she failed miserably or she passed with flying colors. (What the heck are flying colors anyway?)

Thank God no one was hurt. I hope this woman gets the medical help she needs and then when God calls upon her to warn the TSA next time she will be ready.

So, last week it was a woman in Texas saying god told her there were 35 bodies under a house nearby. This week its a woman in Ohio and bomb on a plane.

I wonder if the legal system goes easier on people who say "god told me that" as opposed to "I'm a psychic and my spirit guide told me" or "the voice in my head that sounds like Morgan Freeman told me"? At least among a few of my xtian facebook friends the response to this latest one is along the lines of "well bless her heart, she's just confused and needs help". But, when they first thought the mess in Texas was started by a psychic they were much less charitable.

I guess the crazy you can relate to is less scary than the crazy you can't.

About 100,000 people per year are diagnosed with schizophrenia in the USA. Religious and spiritual delusions are also very common, in fact probably the most common. And I'm not talking just the "maybe there's a god" kind of delusion, but people who believe that they actually have a special relationship with God, and God wants them to do stuff, or tells them to do stuff, etc. It's a problem even, as it's IIRC the #1 reason to not take medication (it makes God go away) and a major reason for causing harm to self or others.

And the so called referential delusions -- in which the patient actually thinks that billboards, news anchors, icons, etc are about them or telling them personally something -- are also not particularly uncommon. So even if God doesn't talk to someone per se, they can still find signs from God in all sorts of stuff.

Frankly, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.
