GMO Hysteria II

So this is the latest email from the same guy as before (if anything, they're good for a laugh).
Did ya hear the news this morning on the radio about cancer rates, kids? The incredible jump in rates for both men and women over the past decade have led researchers to conclude that the root causes go well beyond genetics and diet (my fave hobby horse!) - they are now stating unequivically that the ever-increasing amounts of petro-pollution and petro-plastics in our society (and landfill sites) are starting to have a 'knock-on' effect on our cellular health.

In other words, you can't discuss any of this scientific 'data' about Monsanto (who brought us Agent Orange and DMT, yipee, they care about us!) methodology in a vacuum - the folks 'pushing' GMOs come from the same 'family of concerned industries' that brought us microwave ovens, aluminum cooking methods (heated aluminum! Great!), aspartame, flouride, flu 'vaccines' and petroleum-based everything. All supposedly brought to the public with the intent of 'bringing good things to life.' *or putting them into a state of angry, incoherent, near-sonabulation...

Microwave ovens (another Nazi 'progress') - I spent half a year (ahhhh, independent studies!) examining their entry into the marketplace in the early 60s, and guess what? Absolutely zero testing was done to determine the long-term effects of having a constant (even if minute) 'leakage' of radiation spilling into one's kitchen (esp. when it's located at the head or stomach level). There is still no public education program to help folks realize that their ovens should be tested regularly for even bigger amounts of 'leakage' - or even that they shouldn't be heating anything plastic in their ovens. Or, quite frankly, using them at all!

Aspartame and flouride - Rumsfeldian and Nazi 'innovations', respectively - I think I've described the ramifications of both enough 'round here.

Aluminum - the 'mercury fillings' of the food prep industry.

Flu shots - or the next generation, anti-DU shots! A classic industry method: create the sickness, offer the cure (antibiotics - a whole 'nother can of awful, immune-system-degrading worms)

As for petro-based products - again, 'the Corporation' has a fantastic little chapter on the unchecked rise of this 'magical elixir' as a solution for every commercial and industrial design problem... despite the consequences for our atmosphere and environment ("don't you know that you're tox-ic?", eh britney?)

As I've shown with several articles (thank goodness for British/Euro activism!), 'objective science' becomes a sham term when it prostitutes itself out to multi-billion dollar businesses whose job is to shove unhealthy (or downright life-threatening) products down the public's throats as a way of pushing shareholder value.... to say nothing of organizations like the FDA and WHO, who are simply there to ensure that these products are given a veneer of respectability.

Again I ask - why must we, collectively, as a planet, be guinea pigs for this radical 'jump' in food production 'evolution'? (And I use that term cynically!)
I'll take my chances sticking to eating things that are as close to Mama Nature as possible (I have signed on to do some wild, non-agri plant picking this summer outside Toronto) - and I want my friend's kids to have the choice as well. The way GMO crops are spreading into untainted areas (corn and soy being perfect examples), we're not being given that choice. Is that fair? Of course not. End of story

I swear I'm not making this up (though, usually he spells it "Momma Nature", if I recall correctly).

This person is obviously obsessed with food/health based conspiracy theories. Being concerned with health issues is quite appropriate, however this gentleman is a great example of taking things too far.

So I take it that this guy spends his afternoons in the yard coutning chemtrails?

Someone tell this guy that his lightbulbs are kicking out a broad spectrum of radition and no long term studies have been done into it's effects.

More of the same? It is difficult to discuss the issue rationallly. I dealt with an organic raw food vegan guy who has a restaurant in Massachusetts. He has "health" seminars with snake oil salesmen every week, and believes that all living things are in harmony, so viruses and bacteria are helpful etc. When you challenge their beliefs some of them actually become very angry and may shout, despte apearing as though they are "at peace" with the world on the outside. I suspect this guy will figure out later on in life he has been duped, probably too late.

I'm unfamiliar with the science or the statistics behind rising cancer rates (or if they are indeed rising) but my first assumption is that cancer rates are increasing because modern medicine is so darned good at preventing other things from killing us before we get cancer.

My precious bodily fluids are just fine, thanks.
