Looks like Gimlin is trying to make a few bucks from his infamy.

http://www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?showtopic=24400&hl=

"According to an announcement read on Beyond The Edge Radio last night by Eric Altman, here is the full information on a Conference coming next May:

Bob Gimlin is gathering a group of friends for a get-together next May 16th in Yakima, Washington for the First Annual Yakima Bigfoot Round-up, in Yakima, Washington. Guest speakers will include Dr. John Bindernagel, Dr. Jeff Meldrum, John Green, Chris Murphy, Richard Noll, Kathy Strain and Bill Munns, who will be doing a new analysis on the Patterson/Gimlin Movie. It will include a buffet dinner and entertainment in a beautiful ranch setting. There will be a gathering for dinner Friday evening. Camping is available at the location, as is a hotel, the local Fairfield Inn will slash prices for rooms for the event. Tickets are only 15 dollars, $25.00 for the tribute dinner, and also a combo deal for $40.00.

I believe full information can be obtained from Tom Yamarone at tyamarone@pacbell.net Hope to see you there!!!"

:oHow is Gimlin making money from his family? Did you mean money for his family or are you referring the the guest speakers and other guests as his family?

Infamy well that's a lot easier than making money from family lol!

Gee Bill Munns is a friend of mine so I guess now I'm a friend of Bob Gimlin once removed.

Crow, the word used was "infamy"- not "family"

The OP was making reference to him making a bit of money off of his questionably collored past in regard to the PGF

WP:

"Bill Munns is now Gimlin's friend? Hmmmm....ok. "

I have been invited to attend and talk about my research. That's the extent of it.

Diogenes:

"Bill, what copy of the movie are you working with ?"

I have both the LMS version and a "full frame" version (which is actually about 90% of true full frame) that Chris Murphy had made for a museum exhibit on the PG Film a few years ago.

I'm still exploring options for getting a true full frame version.

One more quick question Bill..

Are you being paid a fee?
It is my understanding that Gimlin, Dr. Bindernagel , Dr. Meldrum, John Green and others, usually get fees for appearing at these Bigfooting events ..

You're in, Bill. They love you. You're a bonafide respected figure of the Bigfoot social community. I guess footers are going to have to drop the line about Gimlin not trying to profit from the film. Are there any questions you can think of asking Gimlin regarding the film?

I haven't asked for one, and nobody has offered to pay me any, so guess not.

Why do you presume the event will be profitable, above the costs of staging the event? And why do you presume if there are profits, that others don't get them?

I don't know the answer to either, but I don't presume it will be profitable for Bob specifically, because I try not to judge based on presumtions with no factual certainty.

I suppose I'll get a chance to talk to Bob, but I don't have any questions lined up to ask him at the moment.

What is Gimlin's purpose for hosting this get-together?
You might want to ask his agent... urrr, uhm , lawyer ..

Maybe someone figured out, instead of being a paid guest at someone else' event, you could do better by hosting your own.

There's gold in them thar' hills....

Consider Gimlin's remarkable absence at the Texas conference..

He cools his heels, uncharacteristically sitting out a major event..
Everyone says " Where's Bob ? " ..

Few months later, Bob throws his own shindig ...

" Here he is ! "

P.S.

He also figured out these things are a lot more profitable if you ' invite ' prominent speakers, and they show up without being compensated.

I trust guest speakers will be able to set up souvenir tables, where they can hawk autographed casts, books, photos & etc., with a percentage going to the gracious host ...

Really? Where did you get that information? My understanding is that while their travel costs are covered, the people you listed are never paid a speaking fee.

Do you have any evidence that Gimlin has ever been a paid (speaking fee) guest at any event?

Consider Gimlin's remarkable absence at the Texas conference..

Why is the remarkable? Does he normally attend the Texas conference? I just checked the 7 year history of the Texas conference and Gimlin's never been a guest, so why is it remarkable he didn't attend in 2008?

He also figured out these things are a lot more profitable if you ' invite ' prominent speakers, and they show up without being compensated.

I'd assume that their travel costs, lodging, and food will be covered - since more than a few speakers are speaking, and at the low ticket cost, I'm not sure how much "profit" you are talking about. But how about you back up your statement with some facts?

I trust guest speakers will be able to set up souvenir tables, where they can hawk autographed casts, books, photos & etc., with a percentage going to the gracious host ...

Got any evidence that Gimlin is going to get kickbacks?
