Giant Fossil Rainforest Unearthed

Is there a link to anything more detailed?

I'm a tad puzzled here, as remains like this are extremely common in coalfields- and given the expected compression of organic matter, I'm having difficulty seeing how a rain forest- in which 3-d structure is absolutely critical , can be studied in one bedding surface- especially in the roof of a mine passage- from which , by definition, the underlying coal has already been removed.
I think the reality, while interesting enough, will be a great deal flatter and less dramatic to look at than this report makes it sound.

I'll be very happy to be wrong though.

Didn't you get the "Goddidit" memo? He created everything, even those million-year old fossils were created as million-year old fossils 6,000 years ago!

No, no, no. Obviously the various parts of the Earth were made before they were fitted together. The fossils are millions of years old because they were one of the first parts made, but they were only put in the Earth 6000 years ago. Please don't tell any creationists about this.

Oddly enough, the YEC arguments I've heard on this follow along the lines of the chicken-egg question.

When man and the animals were created, they were created middle-aged, because babies and/or eggs couldn't care for themselves. They had to have the physical form and basic skills/intincts/memory to function. Likewise, the Earth would need to be created in it's middle age, with appropriate history, in order to support life.

While it's a blatant example of post hoc reasoning to create an unfalsifiable hypothesis, many fundies stand by this as an "explanation." IN my own view, no matter how many words you use to say "godidit", it doesn't really tell us anything useful.
