Ghost (and 'vampire') hoaxes

This is just a ‘flying visit’ for now everyone, but as it really concerns a ‘new revelation’ about the so-called Highgate ‘vampire’ case, I thought it would be relevant here. This is not a new “revelation” as such; but I have finally decided to make public my views on a case of ‘vampirism’ that has spread unchecked and unchallenged all over the world. It has been taken as ‘factual’ – though in fact, stories about it have only really been blind repeats by authors of unchecked and sensational reports by other authors.

As in the case of most reports about the paranormal, this often tends to happen – indeed, does happen.

When I was on here, I recall there was some controversy about my views on psychic phenomena, ghosts, vampires and the like. I think that was fairly well exhausted, but I just wanted you all to know, that as from 6 pm today my main website dealing with all these matters (www.davidfarrant.org) was re-launched and a new DFTVX YouTube channel added.

I just wanted to give a link to this as I hope it shows (from my own lips) that I really do NOT accept the existence of ‘blood-sucking vampires’ (a point that I often emphasised here by pen).

The new link is . . .

http://www.youtube.com/dftvx

Well, I hope many of you are having a bit more ‘peace’ now that I’ve stopped arguing points with you over the supernatural. Do watch the 6-minute video clip though, as I hope this clarifies my stance on ‘vampires’ once and for all!

I think at least we would all be in agreement over this one!

For the moment,

David (Farrant)

I'm new here, and I don't know you at all, but I did watch your video.

It seems that you say you do not think that a vampire is at this Highgate Cemetery, but you instead think that there is a ghost there? I somehow don't think that this will qualify you for an end to the argument with skeptics over the supernatural!

Maybe I read it all wrong.

For Gate 2501

Thanks Miss Whiplash and 'no', Gate 2501, you didn't 'read it wrong'.

This was mainly part of the problem: I said here before (albeit guardedly)that I accepted the existence of psychic phenomena but that I did NOT accept the existence of 'blood-sucking vampires'.

Some people here said that there was really no difference and so that went on . . . and on!

It went on for some seven months or so, and so forgive me if I am anxious to avoid that same topic now.

Anyway, I would be prepared to make some limited comment on the way many people have 'hoaxed' both these topics (ghosts and alleged 'vampires').

If only because such people really give genuine psychic investigators a bad name. Which is not hard to do on a sceptical site such as this one!

Thank you both for your response.

Hi, David. I have to say that I don't see much difference between a ghost and a ghost that drinks blood.

That said, cheers.

Very nice web site actually. And the video was good too, but really, you lose points for not coming out and saying the name of S--- M---------. (heh)

I'll be checking out your site a little later, David. And hello!
Of course I haven't yet watched the video but kudos in advance for NOT coming out and speaking the name of "he who should not be named." :)

Hi David, good to see you again alive and well and still fighting the good fight. I looked at your website and video. Very impressive website (the photos of you aging are very artistic) and the video was entertaining, especially your humorous insistence we were indeed watching the real David Farrant.

Your use of crystals in your promotional images still bothers me. You've said a number of times that you don't use or endorse crystals for psychic research yet you use them in your photos. As a professional psychic researcher you are promoting tools you don't believe work. It's like if the guy who drilled my well had a picture of a beautiful dowsing rod on the side of his truck. It might look nice but I would feel more confident if he just had a photo of a big metal drill and geological maps in his glovebox.

Best of luck with your site and career,

Senex

For Everyone

Thanks for that imjohn, but I think I’ll leave the differences between alleged ghosts and vampires at the moment. I had over seven months of that last year!

But Hi, again Minarvia, Kilgore Trout and my old friend Senex.

It really is good to be in contact again; even if we may be ‘wider apart’ on our respective views on the paranormal. (All we need really now is Big Les, Paul and Cuddles!).

Speaking now from the ‘material world’ (and I don’t want to sound ‘mushy’ in any way), it really is nice to be back in contact in a funny sort of way; as I regard many of you as friends now, albeit absent one’s.

Regarding this new thread, I shall probably be avoiding any psychic debates. But there are a couple of cases that I’ve looked into (apart from the Highgate ‘vampire’ one), that I have safely concluded were the result of very-worldly hoaxes.

I really have been so busy recently with ‘this that and the other’, but I have a short report maybe I could put here later about the ‘Croglin Grange Vampire case’ which was almost certainly an earlier version of the Highgate one. 100 or so years earlier maybe, but people don’t really change that much!

Thanks for your comments on my new Website (and the YouTube film). I’ll try and keep up the standards for Episode two.

By the way, if anybody wants to post on my Blog from here, they are free to do so.

All I ask is, PLEASE don’t mention ‘her’ or ‘him’. (They are really a combined unit now!).

So, psychic discussions from my part have really been exhausted here. But I may well come back with information with a couple of cases of near-proven hoaxes!

For the moment, anyway,

David (Farrant)

David --

I quite like the Croglin Grange story, though it looks to me like it was cribbed from Varney the Vampire. Did you succeed in finding the Croglin Grange house? I know last time I looked into it it was controversial.

John

Wow, it does sound like Varney. I haven't read Varney for about 20 years but even the fingers in her hair and the creature bounding over the wall sounds the same.
Interesting link, thanks imjohn.

The Croglin Grange Vampire is a favorite story of mine. I read it when I was a kid watching Dark Shadows on TV. Yeah, it is too much like Varney but it's still a good tale. Do tell about the house! I've always wanted to go through that part of England, just because of the vampire story.

I disagree. His very essence screams "S--- M---------." David is to S--- M-------- as a red flag is to a bull. :)

Thanks imjohn, Minarvia and Miss Whiplash,

I really will get round to answering the Croglin Grange 'vampire thing'; just trying to take a short break from possible explanations at the moment.

And Hi again, CLD, I'd almost forgotten you!

But you certainly make a valid point. I certainly don't choose to mention 'him' - although he (and his new-found accomplise) certainly name me in full all the time.

Ah, well,

Suppose its a weird world - if sometimes not a very "Christian one"!

David (Farrant).

Hello young man! I thought you were lost.

S--- M---------? The spectre at the feast! I'd almost forgotten about him. Is he still around? :D

Hi David! I'm quite touched that you remember me. Although I understood Cuddles' frustration with the circular arguments we found ourselves in, you always seemed genuine and pleasant, which is not always the case with posters here who hold views counter to the general consensus. The website is an improvement, and I like the photos particularly.

I remember reading the Croglin story a few years back on shroudeater and then 6 months ago in Summers' book, but not checking into it at all. This looks to be an interesting read on the historical validity of the house in question (it starts by recapping the original story).

And Miss W, you know SM is the Dr Evil to your Austin Powers - he'll keep coming back for more.

For Big Les

Of course I remember you, Big Les.

I've done a bit of research on the Croglin Grange 'vampire' thing, but it seems to me, the whole thing was one contrived hoax. Probably, it may have been been easier to hoax stories in those days, even without newly invented camera's.

The case would seem to be another one of 'history' being repeated unchecked. Which in any event would be difficult to check on after this period in time.

But the case does seem to have many similiaraties to the Highgate 'vanpire' nonsense.

Although they had probably not got commercialised plastic fangs in those days!

For now,

David
