Getting interactive (this time on Youtube)

Someone dropped a link to this on me. I went all nostalgic, remembering the "choose your own adventure" books I used to read as a kid.

There's only a trailer so far, so I don't actually know how they plan to do the interactive bit but another Swedish company had some luck a few years back with The Truth About Marika, so obviously it can be done. (Marika had access to old media though, this will apparently be a Youtube only thingy.)

Apparently Perplexcity is on indefinite hold and though I'm guessing it didn't make the creators as much money as they hoped for, the participants sure had fun and the guy who dug up the £100.000 prize probably felt it was worth it.

Is there money in getting interactive? Perplexcity would probably say no. But the Fort Boyard franchise would likely say yes, although only those who actually go there get to be interactive. Is there an entertainment value as good as or even above non-interactive productions? Artistic merit? (I'm biased, I've been periferally involved in a few interactive live on-stage productions myself, so obviously I think they are worthwhile if only for the fun of it.)

I'm going to try and keep up with this Mother. Just to see where it goes. To me it looks as kind of a throwback to those first point and click games for PC where you were really only clicking yourself through a story without changing its course - but on the other hand, I don't know if this will be so, and anyway: I really enjoyed those.

I'm cautiously optimistic that I will be entertained by this. Lord knows I could use a winter diversion.
