From Richard Dawkins' new book:

[Tucker] Carlson, who himself supports the death penalty, was shocked by [George W.] Bush's "humorous" imitation of a female prisoner on death row, pleading to the Governor for a stay of execution: "Please," Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, "Don't kill me."

(Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion, page 292.)

Is there video or audio of this?

This was a well known story in 2000, but the media was too busy telling a BS story about Gore and the Internet to bother to repeat it. Let's be clear: Bush is president today because 6 years ago the media elite simply liked him more than they did Gore.

Damn you liberal media for not giving gore a fair shot.

They also didn’t report on Bush’s Cocaine use, the abortion story, the clearly illegal stock transactions, dodgy National Guard service, etc. Instead we got “invented the internet”, “Love Story”, and “earth tones”.

Election 2000. Clinching proof that the liberal media is dead.

If you can still catch it, Comedy Central once had a series called, That's My Bush that aired an episode regarding this story. Dubya had invited a group of old college buddies to view an execution where he did just that.

The series was hilarious right up until 9/11 made making fun of the stupidest president ever unpatriotic.

The guy's job in the ANG was flying the widowmaker. The fact that he lived tell me that while he may be a lot of things, he certainly isn't "stupid".

And mocking of the president resumed on 9/13, when the first image of him holding the "my pet goat" book upside down appeared on the internet.

A job the US taxpayers payed ~$1 million to train him to do. The same job he walked away from without fulfilling his commitment (refused to take physical exam and was grounded). Those are facts.

I will forgive him for this when he a) makes a full apology for refusing to fly, b) resigns from his current federally funded position, and c) pays back the $1 million to the US taxpayers.

I saw that episode. It didn't occur to me that it might be based on a real event.

Yup.

It was for a magazine interview. It's highly unlikely that there's video, but possible that there's a recording. It seems unlikely that audio has been made public, or we would have heard it.

I looked for the article not too long ago (after reading that same section in the God Delusion, actually). I didn't find audio, but did find the article via Google. So at least that is out there. I believe Tucker Carlson was the reporter.

The series was canceled before 9/11 due to the fact it cost more to produce than they made from sponsors.

You're right, Grammy and I guess I jumped the gun. However, there is this quote regarding the timing and how the series might have suffered after 9/11.

That's My Bush! clearly could not have premiered or continued after Sept. 11th. Scenes such as the president with "Abortion Summit 2001" cake all over his face would have been in awfully bad taste. The president inviting his frat brothers to an execution wouldn't have played too well either. More than five years later some of this stuff is still hard to digest in a wartime climate that's nothing to joke about.

So wait - what exactly was wrong with what Bush did again? Making fun of the unconvincing snivelling of a sociopathic murderer who bragged about having multiple orgasms while bludgeoning a completely harmless and innocent person some 30-odd times with a two-foot pickaxe? Doesn't exactly put him in the Stalin League, in my opinion.

It's a basic principle. She was a murderer, who enjoyed killing, apparently, probably with a serious mental illness. He is supposed to be above enjoying the death of someone.

I'm not sure he enjoyed her death; seems to me he was simply expressing contempt - of which I certainly have enough for the murderer in this case as well.

Yeah, I'm no Bush-basher, but mocking someone sentenced to death is a thing that should below a person of presidential caliber.

What is the purpose of wondering these "what ifs"? There are plenty of TV shows "South Park" for one, and movies that made fun of Bush after 9/11.

Yes there was a small period where "satire was dead" but it turned out to just be in a comma.
