George Takei to challenge Nunes

What's there to discuss? George Takei rules and any district that wouldn't vote him into Congress deserves whatever conservative loser they get...it's unfortunate that the rest of us have to suffer too, of course, but so it goes.

Anyway that worthless scum Trump ball licker needs to lose his seat.

I was surprised to see Tulare County has one of the youngest populations, which I suppose could help George... but, being Central Valley rural agriculture it's conservative enough to have elected Nunes with something approaching 70%.

And at 200 miles from LA... can George satisfy the residency requirements?
(whatever those may be)

The area might very well just go for a celebrity candidate; get them some attention other than for being the home of Trump's newest lapdog. They aren't real Trumpy out there and there's a fairly solid Latino bloc. Takei could find success tying him to Trump's programs and to his disgusting performance as the Trump family pet the past few weeks.

According to Buzzfeed, Takei's bought a house out there. On the one hand that could get him a carpetbagger label, but being a celebrity means a lot in CA. I have a feeling the citizenry is going to like the attention.

And I wouldn't put too much store in the 2016 results. Try to find any solid information on the opposition candidate... I dare you. It appears to be a totally local campaign with no money from the national or state organizations pumped in. And the candidate was woefully weak - absolutely no media presence whatsoever.

It is not *any* celebrity. It is a star trek original crew one. I may be biased but i think it would count more than if it was some random celebrity schmuck from ,say, the walking dead. Lots of older people will remember star trek. Older people are more likely to vote.

There's nothing a heavily conservative district wants to do more than vote for a Hollywood carpet bagger telling them what idiots they were for voting for him last time.. The grass roots swell for Mr. Sulu will be astounding!

True, the morons in his district probably like that he is constantly licking Trump's balls instead of doing his job.

I'm all for George's candidacy.

He is a smart guy, and Nunes is Trump's despicable, lying lapdog who needs to be gotten rid of.

I'm looking forward to his being on a Cnogressional investigative committee. Then, when he asks a tough question that get an obviously ******** response, he can sit back in his chair and say "Oh, my!"

It's also worth noting that, as someone who experienced the Japanese internment camps as a child, he offers an informed perspective on where current attitudes in DC could lead.
