According to that article he paid half the money after he was audited. Does anyone know when that audit happened? I would imagine if the IRS told me I needed to pay x amount, I probably would think I was good, not that I'd screwed up for twice that.

I don't have any source, nor do I feel like looking it up, but I heard on a local radio program that the audit covered a certain number of tax years, after which he made good on those particular tax years, but that, upon his consideration for a cabinet post, he also made good on correcting the same "mistake" for other tax years that had not been part of the audit.
