Dubya spoke to a conference of Evangelicals yesterday, telling them things they wanted to hear about abortion and gay rights.
NPR reporters interviewed some of the attendees, and one of the nice folks expressed the following idea, paraphrased....
Gay marriage was seen as a threat to the country since "those" people "over there" are breeding so rapidly, and inculcating thier children with thier "agenda".
Meanwhile, if gays are allowed to marry, we won't be making enough babies (perhaps White Christian babies...) to stem the tide.....
Do these people have no sense of history whatever? This is exactly the line taken by Der Fuhrer, railing against the Jewish Menace.
And how on earth can the marriage of a tiny percentage of the population have any effect whatever on birthrate, which has been stable in this country for decades?
Makes the mind reel.
Hehe- in regards to Kerry's microphone indescretion (they mentioned Bush's little gaffe last election too, calling a NYT reporter an ***hole.), one of the reporters referred to "Lavalier Tradgedies". Great line.
