Newly crowned Norwegian world chess champion Magnus Carlsen took just nine moves to checkmate Bill Gates in a speed game to be aired later on Friday.

Wow! Talk about a butt whippin. I'd like to think I might last a bit longer.

I will say that the first few games I ever played with "speed" rules would have caused any onlookers quite a bit of hilarity.

I don't think I played any as short as 9 moves, but I wasn't playing someone with a ranking, either.
