Gardening Tool Sale!!!

Yeah same here, but we also have to suffer 'Family Circle'.

The Funny Papers aren't so funny!

I loved the Non-Sequitur comic and wish our local paper carried it.

I've had it with daily comics in the local paper - are any of them actually funny (besides Doonesbury and Dilbert, of course) anymore? Of course, that's assuming they ever were to begin with. BC, Family Circle, Garfield, Hi and Lois, For Better or For Worse, Sally Forth, Beetle Baily and even the beloved Peanuts are as outdated as Ozzie & Harriet and the humor is about as moronic. Who reads these religiously enough that they're continued for decades? From where does their popularity stem; from the witty discourse, the moral of the story, the side-splitting humor? I just don't get it!

Mephisto

P.S. I know I've probably enraged someone for including Peanuts in my list, but I think the majority of the attraction to Peanuts is nostalgia.

I never thought Peanuts was funny.

I never thought Peanuts was funny.

I never did either. The most common opinion I found was that Charlie Brown (the comic strip not the character) was cute. Well, I don't do cute, and Charlie Brown isn't funny, insightful, or enlightening, but maybe I'm expecting too much from a comic strip?

What about the rest of the strips I mentioned? Does anyone actually keep up with the zany hijinks of Hi & Lois or the Family Circle? To be honest, I put these "comic" strips on a par with Jack Chick - cute at a price, and they deliver a moral that only the terminally-boring can understand.
