I seem to have a problem with my two-and-a-half-year-old Powerbook battery - it charges to ~34%, and then stops (sometimes the reading jumps directly to 100% at this point). I'm not getting anything like the battery life I'd expect, obviously.

Are there any utilities for refreshing the battery, or do I have to bite the bullet and buy another one?

Thanks very much. Unfortunately Battery Reset just tells me that it's not required for my computer.

I've gained some extra life from resetting the Power Management Unit, but the calibration is still way out (I'm getting some 40-45% of charge, but it jumps from that to 100% and from 55% to 0% on discharge).

Infuriatingly, there're loads of chatrooms where the "standard G4 battery problem" is mentioned, with no indication of what it is...

If the battery is 2 and a half years old, it will have lost more 50% capacity. That's just the way Li-ion batterys work.
My powerbook G4-battery lost 30% in a year.
You can probably get it replaced if you got applecare. If not, you'll have to pay for a new one.
