"No, everyone is born Christian. Only later in life do people choose to stray from Jesus and worship satan instead. Atheists have the greatest "cover" of all, they insist they believe in no god yet most polls done and the latest research indicates that they are actually a different sect of Muslims."

"I am a bit troubled. I believe my son has a girlfriend, because she left a dirty magazine with men in it under his bed. My son is only 16 and I really don't think he's ready to date yet. What's worse is that he's sneaking some girl to his room behind my back. I need help, God! I want my son to stop being so secretive!"

This is possibly the greatest piece of satire I've read on the web. Or profoundly depressing. May take me a while to work out which.

I assure you that if you follow the link - all quotes are cited with links to context - you'll conclude that it's the latter. :covereyes

Those of you who enjoy FSTDT might appreciate knowing a bit of the history - that site was started by Winace, a poster on the JREF forum. He was a blindingly intelligent and kind young man who stood by his skepticism throughout a long and painful death, a battle that ended in November of last year. You can read more about him here.

Wow...

What a beautiful, poignant and tragic story. Just from reading the few blogs up until he stopped, I was touched. Thank you very much for sharing, rebecca.

Wow...some of stupid/awful things people say I can chock up to just plain ignorance/stupidity but some of that stuff was really hateful.

As a regular reader of the site, I can second that this is in no way satire-these people are "true believers". And yes, it is funny, sad, and scary, all at the same time.

Rebecca-thanks for the Winace link. There are several posters who pay tribute to him on the Christian Forums site. I always wondered what the story was-now I know!

"How can anyone beleive we evolved from monkeys heres a few questions for people who beleive that

1.If we did evolve from monkeys then how come babies arent born monkeys

2.Even Darwin said his theories were wrong before he died so why do you still believe them

3.do you really not believe the bible it says we were created in seven days not millions of years

4.how come we cant speak monkey

Just for a fact ape like creatures are monkeys Just in case certain people get on this thread"

That is my all time favourite post about evolution. How come we can't speak monkey... and Darwinism comes crashing down.

"['Am I the only one who thinks the quotes (on Liberals Say the Darndest Things) are completely lame? They should be self-evidently funny, but most of them have Republican_Legion's commentary behind them to literally explain the humor behind them. Its not a funny joke if you have to explain the punchline.)

Most of what they [FSTDT.com] post isn't "self-evidently funny". It's not even "self-evidently" "darned". It's just stuff that they don't agree with. In fact, I dare say that they have extremely low standards for what they consider "darnedest" comments. Most of what they lampoon are things that would seem rational & sane to NORMAL people."

Oh those silly Fundies :)

how come we cant speak monkey

Well let's see now, You can't speak Chinese, The Chinese can't speak English, So, according to your logic, one of you isn't human. There are more Native Chinese Speakers than there are Native English speakers. So if we had a democratic vote it turns out you're not human. You agree with a democratic vote don't you. What? What do you hate freedom?

I took a look at that the thread where that "Post of the Month" was found, and Trinidad and Tobago looked suspiciously like a troll rather than an honest-to-badness fundie.

That's encouraging!

I think ;)

Yes, but the original posts still might be trolls posting on USENET or message board. I will, however, agree that the great majority are sincere expressions of closely-held beliefs.

I was perusing the site and wondering why critics of the public school system list sorcery as a complaint when I stumbled across this gem from iNetDangers.com:

"Our goal is to reclaim the internet for the Glory of God."

Good luck with that. Let me know how it works out.

This one is too funny:
"i have not read all these replies.. but the way i see it with the Big bang is... if the big bang happened, why are we not see lots of life created in Iraq with all the bangs going off there?"
