Wow, it upset a few people. I had to redact the first URL I found for banned words!

Little did I know, Mr. Rogers was an evil man. By telling children they’re special just for being who they are, he helped create this generation of worthless, lazy socialists who think they’re entitled to health care … at least according to Fox News.

You know, that's just

special.

There's a grain of truth in it when parents go overboard with constant praise that ignores outcomes and, more importantly, effort...but Mr. Rogers? I'm having a hard time imagining people becoming maladjusted by a hearty dose of nice doled out daily by a sweet guy and his puppets on TV.

To be fair, I'm not sure you should represent all of Fox News by the nonsense on Fox and Friends. They're kinda the special needs class of Fox News high school.

Did anybody watch the clip? It's pretty clear to me that they had their tongues firmly planted in their cheeks. And by the way, how old is that clip? Just before the segment starts, there is a brief quote from White House Press Secretary Tony Snow. Snow has been dead for 5 years and was last Press Secretary in 2007.

But with FOX it is as easy to believe this is "straight news" for them as not.

I've heard it expressed many times outside of this segment by conservatives that many of our society's problems are caused by the fact that toddlers playing tee ball are taught to play without distinguishing clear winners and losers. I've seen conservatives lament the "wussification" (or certain rhyming synonyms thereof) of society through stuff like this. Given that, and given the jaw-droppingly absurd things that come out of Fox and Friends with some regularity, I did not take the segment to be tongue-in-cheek.

Yes if you search for something like "Mr rogers Mixed message" fox, you can find this happening around July 2007.

While they chuckled at the 'evil' adjective (which I can accept was tongue in cheek), they seemed sincere in their question of the issue of children's praise without merit. They seemed to have several opinions presented, from Mr Roger's message did nothing good or bad, to the "wussification" noted above. I didn't feel they did much to promote a positive side of Mr Roger's though, and I wound up with the vibe they were on the side of the "Bad message" opinion. (Though like a lot of people who were asking "Where's the birth certificate?" would claim they had no agenda, but were just asking the question.)

Yes, the clip is old, but it's most certainly not tongue in cheek.

Are you including "No eyebrows" Kilmeade in that statement because he seemed to be quite behind the theory? Funnily enough, he is probably of Roger's generation of viewers.
