Oh these poor, uninformed religious types. There are a few comments by this bishop, and each one clearly indicates his poor understanding of, well, everything.

"Bishop Boniface Adoyo, chairman of the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, says that the exhibition does not represent scientific evidence of human evolution. He says evolution is still a theory..."

Yes, evolution is a theory, a very well substantiated theory, you know (or maybe not), like the theory of gravity.

"The conclusion is either God's image is evolving or God Himself is evolving or every creature has God's image. God could be anything and I'm afraid I cannot put my faith in a 'changing God' or an 'anything God'.”

Well, if you're god is omnipotent, this wouldn't be an issue. Since you can't put your faith in an omnipotent god, then that's unfortunate for you.

Why not put your time and effort into DOING something useful, like building a new school, water purification center, or administering vaccines?

I think The Onion says it better with this article "Poverty-Stricken Africans Receive Desperately Needed Bibles".

Bishop Boniface Adoyo- "I'm afraid I cannot put my faith in a 'changing God' or an 'anything God'."

Why not? You alread put your faith in a God whose only power seems to be making himself appear to be nonexistent.

[nitpick mode ON]

How does one make oneself appear to be nonexistent? If you appear, you exist..... Eh? EH?

[nitpick mode OFF]

It's late here...

Not necessarily. My 19 year old supermodel girlfriend appears nonexistent.

This seems like the right place to add my list of everything that I am not aware of:

"The conclusion is either God's image is evolving or God Himself is evolving or every creature has God's image. God could be anything and I'm afraid I cannot put my faith in a 'changing God' or an 'anything God'.”

Well, according to your theory, God is the image of countless millions of species, so what if you miltiply that by a few hundred more?

This guy has the critical thinking ability of a gnat. "Every creature has God's image"?!?!? Where does the Bible say that? And even if so, why interpret it as if it is some kind of manufacturing blueprint, rather than just as poetic reference to life itself?

Is God made of cells? No? Then all bets are off as to what "in God's image" really means. Why create something that looks like a man (to say nothing of doggies) because that looks like God, but men are made of cells and God is made of...what?

And he even stumbles across the correct answer -- there is a contradiction, and therefore one premise must be false. God. But, like everybody else, he backs down on it.

Like this?

:D

Well, I've actually gotten into a few arguments like this one. I'd point out some evidence about fossils and the species that preceded us, etc. Then my opponent would say that fossils are not evidence of evolution, only of fossilization. Then I'd ask how he explains their location within the fossil record and why their traits appear to change over millions of years to eventually appear similar to live species we see today...I'd usually never get an answer on that one.

"God: Putting idiots in positions of authority for over 2000 years."

I was always amused at the memory of talking to a preacher from the northern part of Michigan's lower penninusla as he railed against evolution and fossils were not what science says etc etc etc...

...all while having a petoskey stone paperweight sitting in front of him.

Oh, I'm sure that preacher has his own wacky ideas about how that petoskey stone was created (with emphasis on the word "Created").

Perhaps he just didn't care or know anything about how it was created and was simply ignorant of any significance the stone had. He could have just thought of it as a pretty rock.

Still makes it kind of funny, however. :)
