Ooh, yeah, for a whole day or so. Then he got reabsorbed into the Borg.Christian theology has taught that because humans have sinned, God sent Christ as a substitute to suffer and die in our place.

In a BBC Radio 4 show, Mr John, who is now Dean of St Albans, urges a revision of the traditional explanation, known as "penal substitution".
He offers an alternative interpretation, suggesting that Christ was crucified so he could "share in the worst of grief and suffering that life can throw at us".

Hahaha! I thought this statement had something to do with rubber novelties.

That's a relatively small distinction, isn't it?
I've been waiting for some anglican bloke to come up and give me a random hug, in terms of Rowan Williams' ideas.Sounds as if he has taken one small step in the right direction. But the Lent Talks this year have been boring, well, what I have listened to anyway. In some years they have been sharp and interesting, making points that give food for thought - although not agreement with the religious message of course.
On one hand, he's died to forgive the sins of billions of humans
On the other, he's endured a few hours' pain to find out what it's like.
Not really a small distinction.
If one takes the story of the Passion as a documentary, you have to admit, Pilate did give him a few opportunities to change the course of the verdict. It's almost like he was begging for it, like he wanted to be martyred.I always thought he got nailed for being stupid enough to not lie.
