Flowers?!?

Does anyone else notice that we,as people, seem to buy flowers, one of the most abundant objects on the planet, for the sole purpose to bring them home and watch them die... how very depressing. Why is this?

And every year we cut down a defenseless pine tree, stick it in water to prolong it's life, dress it up in tinsel and decorations to demean it's suffering, and let it slowly die over the course of a month (or two, or three depending on how lazy you are to take down the damn X-Mas tree.)

Girls like flowers, that's the point, no reason to pontificate about aesthetics.

Actually I like flowers too. And the purpose isn't to watch them die; the purpose is to "enjoy" them, knowing that the enjoyment will last a short while.

Why use light bulbs? You're just watching them die when they're on...

Here is a clue for the young...

If you are male, and in particular a practical one, forget everything you know.

The entire point of bringing your favorite female flowers is symbolic.

The symbolism is this:
I am thinking about you. Indeed I was thinking about you earlier when I wasn't in your presence. I have brought you a living thing that will die shortly, but have no fear as I will replace it with another living thing and you will forever be delighted by this ritualistic display that I am constantly spending my time, money, and thought all for you.


When the flowers stop, you are sending the opposite message. So you better mean it before you forget those flowers.
