Hi. This is my first post and excited to be with other fellow skeptics. Came across this video recently and didn't have an answer as to how, this could be possible. Maybe you guys already encountered this. I personally feel this Yogi is another trickster, but not sure how he could accomplish the fire act.

You can search for Fire Yogi in Youtube and find a few more videos.

Heat rises. It's not difficult to hold a burning clump of grass in such a way as to escape the hottest part of the flame. He also seems to keep his robe (which I suspect was wet) between himself and the burning grass. When his beard caught fire, he put it out rather quickly. A simpler test of his alleged powers would be to hold his hand above a candle flame.

Yes. Also, I guess we can train our bodies to take some extra punishment, which might seem impossible for normal persons. Below is one example. We tend to under estimate the amount of punishment the human body can take, once trained.

You don't have to tell me. I'm a long distance runner.

I saw this thread and immediately thought, "Why? Was he demanding sexual favors from Boo-Boo?"

I expected "Yoga flame!" or some such.

Grass doesn't burn very hot. The flame is large and smoky, but if it took that long to catch hair on fire, it couldn't have been very intense.

So, what have the 'ticks' to say about this man's ability to defy dietary science?

It's easy to sneak food and water when you're not under controlled conditions. Has this man submitted himself to constant close observation over whatever long interval "dietary science" claims he should not be able to avoid eating?

Note that when he is in the fire he is actually beside it on a bed of grass. Also, there are several chemicals that cloth can be treated with to make it fire retardant if not resistant. Remember as well, that the Hindi yogic/shaman traditions go a long way back and are full of examples of these sorts of things. As are all the shamanistic religions, the Amerindian Sun Dance comes to mind.

I do a bit of fire manipulation (mostly juggling and the like, but also fire-eating and blowing fire plumes). This video impresses me not at all.

And someone trying to pass this video off as something doesn't deserve any credence for silly breatherian claims.

And don't you love the shot of him waving on the other side of the flames (that is, his hand clearly behind the flames which are between the guy and the camera).

At ~2:40 in the first video, the fire does get to him. He has to stand up and brush it off.
there's also a lot of smoke in the fire, like it is somewhat wet grass. That smoke helps add to the illusion of proximity.

Did you watch all the videos?

"illusion of proximity"...?

You're kidding right?

He's working the upper left side of his body, exclusively - particularly the torso area and shoulder. If you're a fan of conjurers that should tell you something.
