I just watched an interview on The News Hour with Arthur Kornberg (medicine, 1959) and Roger Kornberg (chemistry, 2006). It was great to hear them both wax poetic in expressing the importance of science and the joy of its pursuit.
The elder's prize was for "studies of how genetic information is transferred from one DNA molecule to another," and the youngers for "studies of how cells take information from genes to produce proteins."
Who knows more about the Kornbergs?
