Fashion Statement?

I believe they are furries, so it's more of a symbol of their fetish than a stab at fashion or faddery.

Thanks. Does this also apply to people who wear "wings" and "ears"? I first heard about "Furries" during an episode on CSI - I quickly had to google that term. The mind boggles!

According to my 15 year-old daughter those tails are sooo out of style now

Furries are roughly analogous to Trekkers. You'll see them whan a convention is in town, you'll see them at Halloween. They have their silly side and their darker sides, and are associated with fantasy comics with talking animals. Lots of furries have gone into werewolves/vampires/zombies as the fads come and go. Fundamentalists hate them, like anyone who's having fun.

As Tsukasa Buddha suggested, CSI gave a misleading interpretation of the furry phenomenon. Furrydom isn't necessarily a fetish. It can be, to be sure, but a majority of furries are simply fans of a particular style of art - to wit, cartoon anthropomorphic animals. There is certainly cosplay (just like star trek), but it is not necessarily sexual.

Disclaimer: I am not a furry, but I know several quite well. None of them have been known to engage in yiffing.

Around here, if you go to nearly any of the Summer "festival" events, you'll see enough wings to make you think you were at the butterfly museum....

Aren't those the ones that are also twirling and doing some kind slo-mo dance at the front of the stage?

there are more of us than you think, however a lot of us wear our tails on the inside due to moronic furriphobes

I used to read Omaha: The Cat Dancer, which were interesting stories, but I never got this whole furry movement thing. Personally, I think it's just an excuse to dress up in animal costumes at furry parties, with your junk hanging out.

Yeah - you're right. You don't get it.

Don't see many wings, unless the fursona is an avian, bat, or other some such. Ears, yeah, lots of those. Common dress at a furry convention are ears and a tail attached to your clothing. There are a lot more fursuits out there nowadays, and some are just incredible.

Further Confusion, coming to the California Bay Area in January!
