Family Values Senator Admits To Affair

I always found it Ironic that a family values Senator would represent Nevada in the first place. A Barry Goldwater type conservative, hell yes, but a Family Values style one.........

On the plus side it wasn't with a prostitute or a minor.

Is it just me, or does anyone else mentally substitute "self-righteous douchebaggery" for "family values" every time the term comes up?

A former member of "promise keepers" to boot (how's that working for him).

Fortunately, he is a strong supporter of marriage and completely opposed to gay marriage. Though, I assume it must be because it would increase incidents of adultery as gay married people likely would be as apt to cheat on their spouses as, say, conservative GOP Senators and former GOP Speakers of the House.

John Ensign on Larry Craig:
Ensign said:
That's one of the things that I'm proudest about our leadership is the swift action, not only calling for an immediate Senate investigation, ethics investigation, removing him from his committees but also sending the signal to him that it was probably best that he resign

John Ensign on John Ensign (per Politico):
Ensign said he deeply regretted the affair — and that he remains committed to his Senate duties.

Maybe maybe not. I wonder about the percentages that have partialy open relationships and how that effects cheating.

I find "Family Values" an anoying form of newspeak.

I have figured out it usually involves hardcore christian bigotry, but the term itself could just as well be used as a slogan for same sex families. It would be fun to see the reaction.:D

Is it just reporting bias, or are the loud moral politicians more likely to cheat on their wifes with gays, minors, animals, prostitutes, etc?

Fidelity is certainly a good thing in a healthy relationship. But I think that anyone who stays 100% faithful during several decades, must either be exceptionally boring, or a little bit obsessive about it.

or honourable, devoted, in love.

Then again, I am 28, and still haven't shed all of my illusions.
