Excellent Opus cartoon

:D

Over here, we had those in The Guardian for a while a few years back. Good to see they're still going.

Mark: While Berkeley was doing Outland, he once did a strip where Steve visits Opus after being gone (i.e not in the strip) for a long time. During this visit, Steve reveals that since last time, he got married and had a kid.

Incidentally, he then can't shut up about the kid, as he suffers from the "new father syndrome". When Opus tries to change subject while asking if Mandela's made any progress in South Africa (strip being made in the 90s, after all), Steve replies "You know, if Mandela had been bald, white, and 70 years younger, he'd look just like my son."

Hope that clears things up for you, Mark.

Exactly: They're there so that the Devil has something to pierce upon our entry to Hell.*

*No idea how painful it actually is, but I do know how painful it is to look at.

Wow! Steve Dallas got old. Did he have a kid?

Sort of. Appeared in the strip one day as the son he never knew he had. Some sort of one-panel explanation which I don't remember.

I was a big fan of the original "Bloom County". Berke Breathed got tired of it one day, threw out all the characters (except Opus), started a new strip called "Outland" which was rarely funny. Quit that, threw out all the characters (except Opus), started the new "Opus" strip. I believe one of the introductory strips was a "where are they now" of all the old Bloom County characters but I'm afraid I don't remember any of it.

Anyway, this one seems to be closer to the humor of the original.

Ah! That's the one that was in The Guardian. Maybe that's why it stopped appearing there.
