Thinker
After listening to Art Bell live last night, I've been thinking about electronic voice pheonmenon. Now, reading Randi's commentary, I've seen a couple theories--the "ghost hunters'" equipment is picking up stray signals from baby monitors, or radios, etc.
I'd agreed with that theory--until last night.
I noticed that, whenever the EVP people where in a space that would produce heavy echo effects, such as a mausoleum, the "spirit" voices had a very heavy echo effect also. Huh... I mean, if these "spirit voices" are ghosts, speaking with some special sonic energy that's too magical for normal human ears to detect, then how come the "spirit voices" are bouncing off the walls, like ordinary sound waves would? Not to mention, how come the voices are always speaking in slurred English? What, no Cherokee ghosts? Nobody who spoke Spanish while they were alive?
And then it was suddenly obvious to me--
They're just people's voices. Ordinary, normal, living people. Specifically, people tagging along on the EVP excursions for the purpose of playing ghosts.
The EVP guys are just plain faking it, using the lowest-tech method of all--"Hey, Bubba, c'mere, whisper somethin' real spooky fer the tape."
