Can anyone point me to any articles (other than Randi's) on that use of dowsing by the Estonian bomb squad? I've tried Googling but cannot track down any more information.

I work with some British bomb disposal guys - the people who really do have to dress up in padded suits and armour and walk up to a suspect package to investigate it - and their reaction to the idea of using just a piece of bent wire to detect bombs should be worth seeing...

My guess right now would be some kind of ion particle detector. That might explain why the guy's hand is out, to minimize field interference?

GE has some new bomb detection products just out, but I did not see anything like the wand. The above article describes something that would entail moving a passive collection probe through an area, and then running some laser spectrum analysis on it later.
