Eric Hovind, the son of Kent Hovind, has published an online statement about the tax convictions. It is interesting that these comments come on November 06, 2007 more than year after he was found guilty of 58 felonies (November 2, 2006).
Indeed, it is annoying that he refers to Mr Hovind as "Dr" Hovind and in classic creationist-style denies the evidence and obvious. Some interesting parts:
Just who are these "attorneys"? Well, the convicted tax cheats at including Glen Stoll of Embassy of Heaven. Stoll sold several trusts to Hovind and if you listen to Hovind's prison recordings he often cites "Glen" as his attorney.
An old article about Stoll and Embassy of Heaven:
Eric Hovind continues:
Interesting at his trial (which Hovind declined to present a defense):
Eric Hovind tries to continue the "this isn't about money" (despite the many links to his store and promotions on that very page):

Dr. Hovind's Defense:
From the start of the ministry, Dr. Hovind sought legal counsel on the proper way to compensate those who would serve with him in the ministry. He was told by several attorneys that as a 508 organization, CSE was not required to withhold taxes and that each person serving would be responsible for paying their own income taxes. For seventeen years the ministry operated without incident, and no notice was ever given to CSE or Dr. Hovind that the IRS wanted any changes made on this issue until the day the charges were brought.

An old article about Stoll and Embassy of Heaven:
U.S. attorneys filed a lawsuit against Glen Stoll of Edmonds and Michael Stevens of Everett, seeking a permanent injunction against the men's asset-protection programs.
The men operate an Edmonds office called Remedies at Law. Calls to that office yesterday were answered, but neither man was available and neither returned messages.
The men are also being accused of falsely claiming to be lawyers and advising their clients, who have been targeted for IRS audits, to repeatedly cancel appointments and attempt to physically avoid tax investigators.
The Justice Department has been actively seeking out people promoting asset-protection schemes by invoking religious organizations....

Hovind referred questions about his business practices to Glen Stoll, director of Remedies at Law, an Edmonds, Wash., firm that represents him and his operations, including Dinosaur Adventure Land, Faith Baptist Church, Creation Science Evangelism and CSE Enterprises. The theme park features information on "Dinosaurs in the Bible," as well as rides such as swings and trampolines that test "your faith in God's laws," according to its Web site.

Dr. Hovind's Defense:
Up until 2003, CSE withdrew cash in order to compensate those who served at CSE. There was no knowledge of Bank Secrecy Laws and never any intention of evading Internal Revenue Service regulations.

Interesting at his trial (which Hovind declined to present a defense):
... attorney David Charles Gibbs testified that Hovind claimed he had no obligation to pay employee income taxes and explained with "a great deal of bravado" how he had "beat the tax system."

In early September CSE claimed copyrights on critical videos that had material produced by Hovind and at least one video that contained no Hovind/CSE material. However, CSE's website stated, "none of the materials ... are copyrighted, so feel free to copy these and distribute them freely." This is a point of contention since CSE is now claiming copyright on material to remove critical analysis.
