Okay. This has to be a joke. It doesn't show, but it has to be. I mean:
The goal of Project Pterosaur is to mount an expedition to locate and bring back to the United States living specimens of pterosaurs or their fertile eggs, which will be displayed in a Pterosaur Rookery that will be the center piece of the planned Fellowship Creation Science Museum and Research Institute (FCSMRI).
They also say that they chose Pterosaurs because the alternatives presented, er, some problems.

Just when you think you've seen it all...

Trilobites: We know they still live in the oceanic depths from body parts that have been found washed ashore. They would require very expensive submersible vehicles and pressurized display tanks.
Velociraptors: Today terrorize the goat herders of Puerto Rico and are rumored to guard the remains of the Ark. They have become vicious since the Fall as the result of the effects of genetic entropy, making them too dangerous for the sort of interactive public experience we have in mind.

Ok, first, their premise that showing a living dionsaur would "destroy the evolutionists arguments" is false. It would be interesting to find a living dino, but it wouldn't destroy the argument.

Second, ok...trilobites. Everyone has seen these fossils, I think they're the most common ones, right? If ye ol' trilobite was found to be still living in a deep oceanic area... good for them. They survived.

VELOCIRAPTORS ARE GUARDING THE F****ING ARK???!!!! AND they're the chupachabra? Like you say Morwen, "just when you think you've seen it all".

I need a vacation. :beerflag:

I think it's amazing how in the only photo they managed to take of the apatosaurus from the previous expedition, it's standing so very close to an elephant's trunk. Was it really impossible to take any photos of the beast when the elephant had run away (1)?

---
(1) I assume here that the elephant would be as scared of a charging apatosaurus as I would. This may, of course, be entirely wrong. I am no expert in elephant-dinosaur interactions.

Since when did the Theory of Evolution become an -ism?

Oh yeah, ever since the Creationists started spouting their propaganda... silly me.

Brett,
Can I just say that you have one of the more disturbing avatars around here?

As a former fundie, I can tell you that they look upon us with as much ridicule as we do them. They will try to diminish the work that has been done because it threatens their BS (belief system, the standard maning works too, but isn't as general ;)).

Heh, thanks kmort.

Be thankful I wasn't allowed the other avatar, which I prefer for it's higher DR (Disturbance Rating)...

When I tried to use it I got the message:

"You are not allowed animated images as your avatar"

Or something similar.

I blame the Pterosaurs.

I think this is the best single piece of evidence for the site to be a fake:

(from the ads at the bottom)
Why, If this is a genuine banner for the university did they feel the need to add the most humorous of their many rules to it?

If one Googles for "Objective ministries", the last one on the first page (to which I cannot link) is a Geocities page which lists Christian Extreme sites. This list has Objective: Ministries as a parody site. Whether or not this is true, I believe O:M is a very well-done parody. It seems quite extensive.

It also has a banner that will give you a free Bible if you convert a small beatnik atheist by clicking on it. One of the best banners in a long time.

Animated is not the same thing as disturbance rating. I wondered about that on this site since most other ones allow animated .gifs. Some are high quality mini-movies, with high frame rates and 10+ seconds of animation.

In any case, I would give your actual avatar a much higher Disturbing Rating than the animated one.

Although, you have to agree that both are fairly disturbing.
