MSNBC just reported that the John Edwards has endorsed Obama.

I find the timing to be interesting, after all it is a little too late to be too important, but it comes after Hillary's win and may help Obama with working class people.

Because Edwards is a working class kind of guy?

Don Knight, Orange County building plans examiner, told CJ that, including the recreational building, the Edwardses’ home would be one of the largest in Orange County.

Knight approved the building plans that showed the Edwards home totaling 28,200 square feet of connected space. The main house is 10,400 square feet and has two garages. The recreation building, a red, barn-like building containing 15,600 square feet, is connected to the house by a closed-in and roofed structure of varying widths and elevations that totals 2,200 square feet.

The main house is all on one level except for a 600-square-foot bedroom and bath area above the guest garage.

The recreation building contains a basketball court, a squash court, two stages, a bedroom, kitchen, bathrooms, swimming pool, a four-story tower, and a room designated “John’s Lounge.”

CNN is also reporting it. He'll be on TV at 6h30 EST tonight.

This is an interesting strategic move by the Obama campaign, giving that this endorsement will steal Hillary thunder following her WV win.

Bingo.

Did I not say such would occur day after day for the week after WV.

Slow and steady trickle helps blunt news in times of bad, and helps increase the momentum in times of good.

TAM:)

Bill Richardson would be a better Veep pick, in my opinion.

Edwards would make a great AG.

Here's the speech:

I don't think Edwards is going to be picked for VP. He may want it, but I don't see it happening. The failed run in 2004 has cast him as an "also-ran" in the mind of most people, I imagine.

Between Richardson, Webb, Schweitzer, and Sebelius, there are better pickin's to be found elsewhere.

Edited to add: Thanks for taking your time, Edwards.

I was channel hopping and happened to watch this event live. John Edwards is a talented public speaker. It sounds like doubleplus good news to me. I agree with boloboffin that Governor Richardson would make a great Veep.

There will be dancing in the streets on Jan 20,2009.

I'm not saying I want him to be VP, I'm saying the kind of production they made of this, and the timing, feels to me like that's what they're setting up.

Also I saw the EDWARDS FOR VP?!?!?! headline on Drudge.

Well I was for Edwards until he dropped out. He could have decided the race right at that point by throwing his support behind one candidate or the other. Instead, he let them decide it in the primaries without uttering so much as a peep. He offered his endorsement only after the race was, barring a miracle greater than anything in the Bible, decided. I think that is classy.

Yes, he is a wealthy guy (as are almost all candidates these days) but he was, without a doubt the most populist of all the major candidates. There are few politicians I have respect for, but he is one of them.

I hope his wife's cancer treatment is going well. Perhaps he can be forgiven if he has not had much to say during the final days of the primaries. He might count his defeat as a mixed blessing. No chance in hell that he will accept the VP nod. I'd bet almost anything that he's privately removed himself from consideration.

Was he channeling dead babies again?

Edwards got crushed by Cheney in the 2004 VP debate and lost his home state. That's talent that Obama doesn't need. He does have white skin though, so the dixiecrats will be appeased a little.

Of course, we're going to forget the fact that Cheney told the easiest to verify (but very impressive sounding) lie during that particular debate (when he claimed that the debate was the first time he had met Sen. Edwards even though he had met Edwards several times).
and lost his home state.
It's North Carolina. Did you expect them to win it? As far as I recall (I could be wrong) no Democrat has won NC since LBJ.
