In a not-so stunning reversal of well-known foundational Christian precepts:

Cardinal urges legal action against Da Vinci Code.

In the latest Vatican broadside against "The Da Vinci Code", a leading cardinal says Christians should respond to the book and film with legal action because both offend Christ and the Church he founded.

"Christians must not just sit back and say it is enough for us to forgive and to forget," [Cardinal Francis] Arinze said[.]

So pay attention, children:
It is against the law to upset Jesus.

Turning the other cheek only applies when we want it to, and besides, who has any clue how much seventy times seven even is???

"Free will" means you are free to choose to worship God, or free to respond to my lawyers.

the great thing about christianity is they have two opposing moral messages to fit any occasion.....

feeling forgiving? That'll be the "turn a cheek" you'll be wanting sir....
feeling vengeful? Well....our "eye for an eye" is always popular.....

having said that, if i was a member of the opus dei i dont think i'd be too happy about how i'd come across in the da vinci code.....

a self flagellating, psychopathic, murdering albino loner.....hardly going to do wonders for recruitment is it?

The DaVinci Code isn't religion, and the legal system cannot bring justice.

"The Code" is already being bandied about in the legal system.

That's a fitting place for it.

It's offensive to me that there are legal systems where you can actually bring up people on charges of defaming religion, mocking religion, etc., or mocking someone's religion is "hate speech", etc.

You can't blame someone for wanting to take advantage of the local legal system, though.

Oh, wait. Yes you can. Especially when you are espousing a different, existing legal system where you're not supposed to piss off other people in the name of Jesus lest that drive them from Jesus, eternally damning their immortal souls.
